“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
God honors righteousness. He is no respecter of persons or nations. He will exalt those who do right. He will bring low those who do not.
Righteousness is that which is morally justifiable. And the judge of what is morally right is God. His own perfect righteousness is the standard by which He judges every behavior and attitude. The laws of God, revealed and recorded for us in the Bible, describe His righteousness.
A nation that does right in God's sight is a nation that He will honor and exalt. Isaiah describes such a nation as one that "keepeth the truth (Isaiah 26:2). Where a people turn away from the truth they turn to lies which will ultimately lead to their reproach and downfall.
America was once a nation that did right. A nation founded upon the bedrock of God's holy word. Sadly, we have become a nation that no longer keeps the truth. We have forsaken the truth in our court rooms, in our legislatures, in our school houses, in our homes, and in our churches. It is time for us to repent.
I believe that God desires to bless people. I believe He wants to exalt nations. I believe He will exalt America, if we turn from our unrighteousness and begin to do right.
In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God says "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
It begins with you and me. We must do right. We must not allow ourselves to give in to unrighteousness. Join me in praying for our country. Pray that we would have repentant hearts and a will to do right.
God bless America!
The Lord willing, I'll see you tomorrow!
